We lurrrrrrrve a good patio.

What's better than sitting out on a sunny rooftop/porch/beer garden/veranda with a tasty IPA/Chablis in hand? LITERALLY NOTHING. See below for some overtly un-humble patio-brags.

New Zealand

Auckland - Wynyard Quarter

Auckland's old waterfront harbor has been converted into a breezy public wharf-space with a ton of hip-looking drinking establishments made out of converted shipping containers. Also, the white wine makes you shrink.

Queenstown - Bathhouse

Perhaps the granddaddy of all patios in Queenstown, this was the town's old bathhouse built in honor of the Queen's coronation (or something commonwealthy like that). Now it's just an awesome gazebo café on the beach. Bonus: open for breakfast.

Queenstown - Perky's Boat Bar

This is a boat that's also a bar. That's all you need to know.

Te Anau - Bob and Maxine's

Cons: This is just the porch of a hostel on the outskirts of a sleepy town called Te Anau. Pro: The field in the background is an alpaca farm which means while you booze you can watch awkward hairy animals fight/squeal/bone all day. BYOB.

Wanaka - Wanaka Bakpaka

Another hostel. But this one has a spectacular view of Lake Wanaka and is a great place to grab a glass of whatever you bought at the local supermarket. Totes BYOB.

Wellington - The Tasting Room

Street-level beer garden on astroturf. Classic.
